Tax Return Scam
This scam mostly affect Thai people but since people that read this site might be married with a Thai person we thought you should be aware of the dangers with this new scam.
This scam have been going on for year in Thailand and the Thai police arrest new people all the times mostly from Taiwan and Iran with Thai helpers.
They have picked Thailand because of what they say the
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Thai police incompetent and the easily tricked people and old bank system.
They white colored criminals also target other countries using Thailand as a base to make the scam from.
The scam is pretty simple; they call the victim and say you got a tax return or something similar. They then ask you to go to the ATM and transfer money to different accounts. It can sound pretty simple and easy to detect but sadly the Thai people are new to this ATM and computer age and lack the education and common knowledge.
Many victims do not go to the police because they are ashamed or they are scared the police will see how rich they really are.
The criminals buy ATM cards from poor Thai people for 2000 THB a card and the latest gang that got caught have bought over 10 000 cards.
