My Thai hotel stole from me what now?

December 15th, 2011 · Thailand Hotels

Many people write to us asking us to name and shake hotels in Thailand. We cannot according to Thai law just name and shame certain hotels because their bad behavior (even if we wanted to). We understand that many people have problems with staff at hotels steal money from the guest and mostly the hotel owners are on the side of the staff. Your best thing is to make as much fuzz about this at the moment you are there. But first of all make sure your new Thai Girl or Boy friend did not take the money. Make sure the money is not in the room and make sure you collect evidence.

Some things you can do

Send an email out to all English Speaking Newspapers asking them to come down to the Police Station.

Call your local Embassy asking them to come down and help you.

Post on local forums like Thaivisa.com and Personalthailand.com

Write to us and tell us about the problem while you still in Thailand not when you left.

If the Police do not want to take a complaint just ignore him and ask for his supervisor and if do not want to do it call Bangkok Central Police and make a complaint against these police officers.

In Pattaya you can call 1337 and ask for Advice and there is always the tourist Police to call as well.

Payback

The more noise you make the more the hotel owner have to pay to the Police in “good will” money once you left and he might get the point after a while not to side with the staff.

When you have a proper police report all the media in Thailand will be more willing to publish your story since they can base it on the facts of the police report not just your word.

When you come back to your own country you can slander the hotel in question all you want if you did not get the money back.

Thai HIV Test Scam

December 12th, 2011 · Health

The World Aids day was just last month and we all know that Thailand is far from safe from HIV and Aids. The Aids pandemic have moved away from the Thai Gay bars and HIV is now a normal family matter.  Some Thai sadly believes that HIV comes from dirty or black skin and people with white and pure skin cannot have HIV. So when they visit massages palaces they refuse condom and get HIV and then goes home and give it to the wife.

If you wish to want join the sex trade in Thailand you should be very careful and always use a condom. The big signs on the walls that the girls or boys tested weekly is just a big scam and the clinics that conduct these test are well paid by the bars.

Some private small clinic not even test the blood you give them they just give you a negative result since that is what you want to hear and they make a quick easy 1000 THB. This is off course a scam but not much you can do about it. I am not saying all small clinics are bad but be careful with clinics that just opened and do not have a record.
The myth that the girls on the street should have more HIV than other girls is also not true. Sure some girls that are working in the street cannot work in the bar since she have HIV and failed a test but she can also opted out from working in bars.

Never take your new-found loves word for that she been using a condom for all her life but send here straight to an English speaking clinic where you can see the test result and the staff is trusted. If you are away from your girl or boyfriend make sure you test her or him again. Even with all the test in the world you still risking your life have sex without a condom in any country.

Let me tell you a about a scenario that is very common in Thailand

Your Thai girl have Thai boyfriend and she also have you for the money. The Thai boyfriends gets money from Your Thai girl that you give her and he spends your money on his Thai girlfriends that works in a massage for Thai customers that do not want use condom. Since the massage girl lies to her boyfriend saying she use condom all the time they have sex without condom and since you tested your girlfriend she and her boyfriend also never use condom since your girlfriend thinks he only love her. You never use a condom either since you think she is clean. You will get HIV from the Thai customer just from a simple little lie.

Do not trust in anybody’s word when it comes to your life always use a condom.

Thai flood scam

December 5th, 2011 · Charity

The Flooding in Thailand have led to many people taking to scams to make a better living. Water donated was sold, boats donated was sold in short time hotels, money donated never reached the victims of the floods and the list very long.

In Thailand it is very difficult to set up a real charity and the charity that do exists do not show that much when these kind of things happening. The Thai government do not really have control over the money that flows in the private accounts that circulate on the internet and magazines. The Thai government can hardly control the money they use for the flood victims how could they control the private sector.

In Bangkok foreigners are walking around and asking for donations and they have probably nothing to do with the flooding aid but they make a living out of it.

So how can you avoid scams?

If your local charity doing something donate to them, they are known to you and you know they are legit.

If someone you know or your company is doing a hands on donation ask them to give a helping hand. You will see the donations being handed over and see the joy on people’s faces.

Avoid sending money to private bank accounts that you have no idea who is the owner and is totally out of your control.

Do not give money to people coming to knock on your door asking for donations.

If your company want to give a bigger donation, ask the Army to help you take it to the people who need it and make sure you brand the stuff with your company logo. Not because you want to brag about it but to avoid people resale donated goods.

Just because you have a good moral and good standard does not mean other people have the same high values as you have. Some people would do anything and I mean anything to make a profit from the flood aid.
